A Playgroup for little German Speakers At the Purzelbaum we believe that learning should be a natural part of life. We offer a happy, secure and home based playgroup. We strive to create an environment where children enjoy themselves and learn in a playful way. We strongly believe in learning through play close to nature. Our beautiful garden and animal friends invite children to explore and play.
We help children to develop social skills and a sense of belonging to a group with respect for each other. Our small group ensures individual attention . Our educational style encourages children to become confident, relying on personal strengths. We aim to provide a nurturing environment giving each child the opportunity to become independent to develop into a confident person. Our bilingual approach allows children to be immersed in German language and culture. German songs, rhymes and story time form part of our daily program. Come and see for yourself! |
The most fabulous play school ever... Myrtha is adored by all the kids... for good reason. Highly recommended!"

Myrtha is so kind and caring, my children have absolutely thrived at Purzelbaum. I love the small group, it's like a little family away from home. It's adorable hearing them singing the German songs from school and my son is doing so well with Afrikaans at school now, with the foundation in German.

We chose to send our 3 children to Purzelbaum, not because we have ANY German in our family, but because we adore Myrtha and her family; Purzelbaum is very close-by and because we hoped the small homely environment would be a perfect introduction for our kids to semi-structured play. It was all of this and more. All of our children thrived under Myrtha's care. Myrtha was kind enough to always repeat instructions or comments in English, whenever she could tell that our kids had not grasped the German. It was however interesting to note from Myrtha's feedback that on many occasions, our children had no trouble following the German. For us, our kids' exposure to another language was more of an interesting addition to their play and learning, and not a necessity, nor ever a hindrance.
I was often amazed by Myrtha's ability to perceive our young children's needs as well as how to make them happy. Whether it was separation anxiety we were struggling with with our two year-old, or sensitive development areas in a child, Myrtha had helpful suggestions that were always in the best interests of the child, whilst fully understanding the parent's situation. She really is a unique wonderful teacher, and her gifts and talents are perfect for the 2-5 age group. I would not hesitate to promote her and Purzelbaum to others.
